Sarah Draht’s Black Belt Speech

Everything that needed to be said is in the speech.

I realized very early on that my black belt isn’t about my belt at all, 

it is about the journey on the way and who I became.

Who I am becoming.

I used to think black belt was the end of the journey, now I know it is the beginning.

For my speech I had a decision to make.

I could thank everyone and tell them how excited I am about my journey.

Or I could be real, honest and raw about the why. Why I made the promise 

to myself to earn my black over ten years ago, why I changed on the journey, how I changed. 

The challenges required were the hardest I have ever had to navigate through in my life.

And I wouldn’t change a thing.
